ACE HALF SMASH CUP
ACE SPORTS ASSOCIATION under the auspices of KARNATAKA BADMINTON ASSOCIATION conducted the 1st Men’s Open Badminton Tournament on March 20 and 21st 2010
The first initiative of Ace Sports Association was the Half Smash Cup, an open men’s doubles badminton tournament held recently at the Karnataka Badminton Association Indoor Stadium under the auspices of the Karnataka Badminton Association (KBA). The event saw participation of 168 teams from various parts of the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The total prize money on offer was Rs 1.2 lakh — Rs 50,000 for the champions, Rs 30,000 for the Runners-up, Rs 10,000 each for the two semi-finalists and Rs 5,000 each for the four quarter finalists. The two-day event, which witnessed some high-voltage badminton, was a huge success and has created a very positive impact in badminton circles. Ace has also set a new benchmark for the prize money for tournaments of similar stature. Ace presented two complete badminton kits to the Karnataka Badminton Association, to be presented to two talented children who are short of resources. The children will be identified during the summer camp that will be held at KBA in the coming months.
